One Big Sigh.

Sun Jan 13, 2008, 3:47 PM
So things are going well I guess. not really for me at my house. We got flooded in a recent storm and my room is at the back of that flooded basement. Thank God no water got in there, which is odd. It's ripped apart, and the office which was once down there is moved into the kitchen, which has thrown our house into the air..So hopefully it will calm down this week. My new piece I'm working up right now looks very promising.
Couple quick thanks to :iconrahll: and :iconjoejesus: for their support via notes..they've been givin' me tips and such. Basically I meant to put this up out of frustration. I know that great detail comes from working BIG. The problem is, every time I upscale to over 2500x2500 photoshop lags like MAD. Anybody got any quick tips to boost my computer's processing speed? It's not a crappy computer by any stretch, really. Good RAM, nice processor. Usually all I am running is photoshop, and perhaps a window for web browsing..which sometimes I close if I wanna go "big". Soooooooo....that's all! Thanks for readin' =D

Sorry to hear about your house. :( At least your room was untouched. :D

The only ways I know how to speed up a computer is to download a spyware scanner and delete spyware every once in a while. It's also good to go to your control panel and go to performance and maintenance. There should be options there to speed up your computer. That's all I got. :P

one way to speed it up is to keep your layer count to a minimum. Only use what you need. I'm easily irritated by people who don't know how to use layers, but that doesn't mean you need to go overboard. I don't know how many you use on average though. hope that helps.

I don't use many. Even when I'm large scale with one layer my computer explodes =D

ah. another thing I thought about, is when you're working really large scale in order to achieve many small details, you don't necessarily need to have it at a high resolution, because you can scale it down when it's finished, increasing the dpi and preserving the details, without lagging your computer during the creation; meaning that 72, or even as low as 50 would be fine for a working resolution.

oh really? I never realized that. I'll try it at a lower setting. But does decreasing lose detail in the very end? Does working big with low res still get your crisper images..?
